Political Reality Check
by Ken West
Here in the U.S. we’re getting ready to have a mid-term election for the Senate and House of Representatives. Great fun there, especially f0r the Democrats, pretending that they didn’t have anything to do with Obamacare. “It’s not their fault,” they opine. “Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid made them do it.”
That’s the good news. Now let’s get on the bad stuff.
First of all, the USA is broke. Both Democrat and Republican administrations have spent money like drunken sailors. (Money that we don’t have. We owe it! Well actually, our children, their children, and their children’s children, owe it. Forever. What happens when they realize that we’ve bankrupted their future? Right now, our government is on a spending spree, giving away money we don’t have to every nook and cranny of the planet. As Alfred E. Neuman of Mad Magazine used to say, “What, me worry?”
But that’s not the worst of it. Not by a longshot.
The country is getting restless, skeptical, cynical, and even exasperated by the nonsense coming from the mouths of so-called “liberals.” (The only thing that liberals are liberal about is their proclivity to rob you of your future income, if you’re lucky enough to have one.) Yet “conservatives” don’t want to take your money. Instead, they want to tell you how to behave in the privacy of the doctor’s exam room (if you’re a woman) and in your bedroom (whatever your sexual preference).
So, who can we trust?
Certainly not Democrats. (They gave us Obamacare.) Certainly not the religious Right. They want to impose their religious view on you, me, and all eternity.
The only individuals we can trust are those willing to say what needs to be said, and do what needs to be done. Where do you find such individuals?
Some are entrepreneurs. Some are doctors. Some are in business. In rare instances, some might even be politicians. (Paul Ryan and Rand Paul come to mind.) One could be your neighbor. You might even be one of them.
Here are some clues to discover if you’ve found such an individual:
So, my fellow Americans, where do we go from here? Essentially that’s up to you and I. If we don’t start changing things now, it will be too late once big government tries to muzzle free speech. Our first Amendment rights are the cornerstone of whatever freedom we have left. Don’t let political correctness and such nonsense chip away at our ability and willingness to speak. Scream like a Banshee if and when government tries to clamp down on what you can say and write.
Meanwhile, go in peace, this address is ended.
