Deveselu, Romania – September 21, 2020
The village of Deveselu held an election to decide who would be the town’s next mayor. The ballots were counted and incumbent Ion Aliman gathered 64% of the vote and was elected to serve a third term in the office. Just one problem. He died two weeks before the election.
The town explained that Aliman’s name was already printed on ballots and could not be removed after he died.
